Student projects are critiqued and reviewed by industry partners in order to provide students with specific, relevant industry feedback. Cozy Stylish Chic Creative Director Jeanne K. Chung and designers Angela Lee and Caroline Meloche brightened the dark wood-paneled library to create a space where residents can unplug. “Our two main goals were to create a space that was comfortable and a little bit updated while also retaining that history and not touching or harming all the really cool features that were innate to the room and came with the house,” Meloche says. Wallpaper was added to the ceiling and the backs of the bookcases, and heavy wood blinds were replaced with soft draperies and Roman shades to make the space feel lighter. The glamorous touches continue in the ensuite bath, where Sabatella added a custom mirror-tiled tub that plays off the vintage French tile floor. The designers worked with a color palette of Dunn-Edwards paints, and several chose to highlight the brand’s 2024 Color of the Year, a steely blue called Skipping Stones. Nods to Pasadena’s famous peacocks can be found throughout the designs, and many creators fearlessly brought in statement floors, enveloped their spaces with jewel tones, and added texture to ceilings. Others focused on bringing the beauty of the estate’s gardens and views inside with verdant murals, floral fabrics, and nature-inspired lighting. ArtCenter is a private nonprofit fully accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC). Renowned for both its ties to industry and social impact initiatives, the College is the first design school to receive the United Nations’ Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) status. Summer of Art culminates in a final exhibition, providing students the experience of being part of a gallery show with their peers, while sharing their work with family and friends.

We observed fashion students designing their ready-to-wear lines inspired by different periods in history. Illustration students refined digital collages inspired by the Renaissance artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo. Roski’s BA program is a liberal arts degree, ideal for students who want to combine art with a study in a related field — or a completely different one. Though the emphasis remains on a studio practice, the flexibility of the BA allows students to pursue electives, a minor or a second major to develop a diverse academic career. For a more intensive undergraduate arts degree, the BFA in Fine Arts program allows students to immerse themselves fully in the creative process, spending the vast majority of their class time in studio courses developing high levels of proficiency.
